Cyanotype Workshop: The Art of Sun Printing
October 18th, 10:00am-3:00pm
$130+ $30 material fee, (snacks , tea and coffee are provided)
Discover the magic of sun printing in this hands-on cyanotype workshop inspired by the natural world. Learn to create beautiful blue-and-white botanical prints while experimenting with plants, found objects, and photographic imagery.
We’ll begin with the basics of cyanotype, learning how to mix the chemistry, coat paper and fabric, and use the sun to develop our prints. Through playful demonstrations and guided experiments, you’ll explore a variety of ways to create unique images and textures.
You’ll also learn how to transform your cyanotype prints into a wearable work of art by creating your own pair of cyanotype earrings and tote bag.
No previous experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity!
What you’ll explore
Mixing cyanotype chemistry and coating paper and fabric.
Creating botanical prints with fresh and pressed plants on a tote bag.
Experimenting with three-dimensional objects such as lace, string, and jewelry.
Making compositions with paper cutouts and photographic negatives.
Creating a pair of handmade cyanotype earrings to take home.

Grab a glass of wine and discover the art of botanical drawing! Inspired by Jane Colden, one of America’s earliest botanists from the Hudson Valley, this relaxed, hands-on workshop invites you to slow down, look closely, and draw plants from observation. We’ll experiment with traditional oak gall ink, a historic archival ink used by artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Van Gogh and in important documents including the Declaration of Independence. Along the way, we’ll learn a little about Jane Colden and the history of botanical illustration while creating our own beautiful botanical studies. You’ll create a collection of 4–6 botanical drawings that can be turned into cards, given as gifts, or framed and hung on your wall. No drawing experience necessary—just bring your curiosity, enjoy a sip, and have fun discovering the garden through ink!

Bio
Teaching art is at the heart of my practice! I am passionate about inspiring students of all ages to be curious, playful, and fearless in their creativity. Currently, I teach after-school programs at Cornwall-on-Hudson Elementary and Lee Road Elementary, and serve as a Freelance Educator at Storm King Art Center. I also lead workshops at Garrison Art Center and Woodstock School of Art, where I guide students through painting, printmaking, and mixed media explorations. My goal as a teacher is to create welcoming spaces where imagination thrives and students feel empowered to express their unique voice through art. In addition to teaching, I am represented by Carrie Haddad Gallery, where my own studio practice continues to inform and inspire my approach to education.
Light + Paper: A Japanese-Inspired Lantern Workshop
November 22nd, 10:00am-3:00pm

Spend a creative day exploring the beauty of traditional Japanese papers as you design and make your own illuminated paper lamp. Inspired by Japanese lanterns and the art of working with paper, we’ll explore the delicate textures, patterns, and translucency of beautiful handmade papers. You’ll learn simple techniques for constructing a lightweight lamp and experiment with layering, folding, cutting, and composition to create a one-of-a-kind piece that glows from within. No previous experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity!

Stop Motion Animation Studio Session II
(October 29, Nov 5, 12, 19) Ages 7–12
Bring your stories to life—one frame at a time!
Have you ever wondered how your favorite animated movies are made? During this fun and creative workshop young artists will become filmmakers as they learn the art of stop motion animation. Using everyday objects, clay, paper, natural materials, and their own drawings, students will create characters, build miniature sets, and produce their own original animated short film.
Throughout the workshop we'll explore the fundamentals of animation, storytelling, character design, lighting, camera angles, and sound. Students will discover how hundreds of photographs come together to create the illusion of movement while developing patience, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
By the end of the workshop, every student will leave with their own completed stop motion movie to share with family and friends.
