A collaborative botanical drawing + painting night

Come step away from the to-do list and spend a couple of hours slowing down, making marks, playing with paint, and creating something together.
We'll start with inspiration from fall flowers and use a series of quick, playful drawing exercises to loosen up and get curious while we create one large collaborative artwork, layering, painting, drawing, printing, covering, revealing, and responding to what the group creates.
No experience necessary. I'll guide you with prompts to help you take risks, move past the blank-page moment, and know what to try when you get stuck. Come by yourself or bring a friend. Meet some creative people, enjoy a drink, listen to some good music, and give yourself permission to be curious and play.

Cyanotype Workshop: The Art of Sun Printing
October 18th, 10:00am-3:00pm
$130+ $30 material fee, (snacks , tea and coffee are provided)
Discover the magic of sun printing in this hands-on cyanotype workshop inspired by the natural world. Learn to create beautiful blue-and-white botanical prints while experimenting with plants, found objects, and photographic imagery.
We’ll begin with the basics of cyanotype, learning how to mix the chemistry, coat paper and fabric, and use the sun to develop our prints. Through playful demonstrations and guided experiments, you’ll explore a variety of ways to create unique images and textures.
You’ll also learn how to transform your cyanotype prints into a wearable work of art by creating your own pair of cyanotype earrings and tote bag.
No previous experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity!
What you’ll explore
Mixing cyanotype chemistry and coating paper and fabric.
Creating botanical prints with fresh and pressed plants on a tote bag.
Experimenting with three-dimensional objects such as lace, string, and jewelry.
Making compositions with paper cutouts and photographic negatives.
Creating a pair of handmade cyanotype earrings to take home.

Set aside some time to play, experiment, and reconnect with your creativity. In this 2-hour floral mixed-media workshop, we’ll explore playful drawing exercises inspired by flowers and the natural world using watercolor and ink, oil and chalk pastels, and collage.
No experience necessary—just come ready to experiment, make a mess, and have fun!

From Nature to Abstraction

Exploring emotion, color, composition + the natural world
What does nature feel like?
Instead of trying to capture a landscape exactly as we see it, From Nature to Abstraction invites you to explore the colors, rhythms, textures, energy, and emotions we experience in the natural world—and translate them into abstract art.
Over four weeks, we’ll slow down and look closely at our surroundings, gathering inspiration from nature through observation, photographs, sketches, words, color, and memory. We’ll experiment with building personal palettes, expressive mark-making, shape, layering, and composition, discovering how visual choices can communicate feelings such as stillness, movement, joy, mystery, wildness, or calm.
Rather than creating one finished representational image, you’ll work through a series of paintings and studies, allowing each piece to inform the next. We’ll explore how repetition, variation, color, and composition can transform an individual idea into a cohesive abstract series.
This is a playful, process-focused class for anyone curious about abstraction, whether you have years of painting experience or are just beginning to explore your own visual language.

Stop Motion Animation Studio Session I
September 24th, Oct 1, 8, 15 Ages 7–12
Bring your stories to life—one frame at a time!
Have you ever wondered how your favorite animated movies are made? During this fun and creative workshop young artists will become filmmakers as they learn the art of stop motion animation. Using everyday objects, clay, paper, natural materials, and their own drawings, students will create characters, build miniature sets, and produce their own original animated short film.
Throughout the workshop we'll explore the fundamentals of animation, storytelling, character design, lighting, camera angles, and sound. Students will discover how hundreds of photographs come together to create the illusion of movement while developing patience, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
By the end of the workshop, every student will leave with their own completed stop motion movie to share with family and friends.
