MY TEACHING ETHOS
Encaustic and mixed media are languages of transformation. Through heat, layering, cutting, assembling, and fusing, materials are altered and brought into conversation with one another. The process asks us to observe, experiment, and respond—to balance intention with chance and control with surrender. I teach in a variety of spaces, both in person and online, creating opportunities for artists to explore materials, develop new skills, and discover their own unique visual language.

IN PERSON CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
Draw, Sip & Discover: Botanical Ink Drawings
November 8th, 6-8pm | Cornwall Collective, Cornwall, NY Register here.
Grab a glass of wine and discover the art of botanical drawing! Inspired by Jane Colden, one of America’s earliest botanists from the Hudson Valley, this relaxed, hands-on workshop invites you to slow down, look closely, and draw plants from observation. We’ll experiment with traditional oak gall ink, a historic archival ink used by artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh. Along the way, we’ll learn a little about Jane Colden and the history of botanical illustration while creating our own beautiful botanical studies. You’ll create a collection of 4 botanical drawings that can be turned into cards, given as gifts, or framed and hung on your wall. No drawing experience necessary.
Mini Botanicals & Encaustic Workshop
November 22, 2-4pm | Cornwall Collective, Cornwall, NY Register here.
Discover the possibilities of combining botanicals and beeswax in this Mini Bloom & Wax workshop. Students will explore how to incorporate pressed flowers and leaves into encaustic, using layers of translucent wax to preserve and transform natural materials into luminous works of art. During this hands-on workshop, you’ll create two small encaustic botanical artworks using pressed flowers and leaves, exploring texture, dimension, and the beautiful details found in nature. Along the way, you’ll learn essential encaustic techniques for layering, embedding, and fusing materials.
