Description:
Storymaker Studio is a storytelling and visual arts program where imagination becomes image, and image becomes story. Designed for young artists ages 7-12, this studio experience invites participants to step into the roles of author, illustrator, and beginner animator as they create original worlds, characters, and narratives from start to finish.
Afternoon sessions expand storytelling into beginner animation and visual sequencing. Artists experiment with how images move and change over time using playful, accessible techniques such as flipbooks, motion studies, and simple stop-motion animation. These hands-on projects introduce foundational animation concepts like frame-by-frame movement, pacing, and visual continuity in a way that feels intuitive and fun.
Participants in full-day registration experience both morning and afternoon studios, allowing their stories to evolve from page to movement. Selected groups will also create a short animated video, combining drawings and sequences into a finished piece that will be shared with families at the final Friday celebration.
Highlights:
Cartoon character & comic drawing
Storyboarding & bookmaking
Illustration techniques
Animation
Public reading and movie viewing celebration
