Description:
What does it mean to make modern art? In this immersive studio week, young artists will explore bold ideas, experimental materials, and the playful spirit of modern and contemporary art. Artists will create paintings, mixed-media works, prints, and small sculptures inspired by abstraction, scale, color, and form.
We’ll take a special field trip to Storm King Art Center, where artists will experience monumental sculpture in the landscape and sketch from observation. Back in the studio, artists will develop their own modern works and learn how to curate, title, and present art in our studio.
The week culminates in a real art exhibition, where families are invited to a gallery-style show celebrating each artists’ work.
Highlights:
Painting, mixed media, printmaking & clay
Field trip + sketching at Storm King Art Center
End-of-week art show reception
All materials included. Artists should bring a lunch, water bottle, and clothes they can get messy.
