In Person Workshop: Cloth and Wax: Weaving Textiles & Encaustic (November 15th & 16th)

$300.00

Cloth & Wax: A 2-Day Encaustic and Textile Workshop

Discover the creative possibilities of combining fabric, paper, thread, and molten beeswax in this immersive 2-day art experience. Together, we’ll explore how to incorporate cloth into encaustic painting, adding layers of meaning through stitching, coloring fabric by hand, and working with translucent encaustic monotypes.

You’ll learn:

• Safe practices for working with hot wax and encaustic tools

• How to fuse fabric into encaustic surfaces

• Hand-stitching techniques for texture and detail

• Methods for coloring, staining, and altering fabrics

• Plus—a guided museum visit to Storm King Art Center or Dia Beacon for inspiration from large-scale contemporary works in textile sculptures and installation art.

No encaustic experience needed—this class is open to all curious makers, artists, and experimenters.

All materials and museum fees included, with the option to bring your own fabrics or meaningful textiles.

Dates: November 15th and 16th

Location: Alaina’s Art Studio in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY
