Cyanotype Workshop: The Art of Sun Printing

Discover the magic of sun printing in this hands-on cyanotype workshop inspired by the natural world. Learn to create beautiful blue-and-white botanical prints while experimenting with plants, found objects, and photographic imagery.
We’ll begin with the basics of cyanotype, learning how to mix the chemistry, coat paper and fabric, and use the sun to develop our prints. Through playful demonstrations and guided experiments, you’ll explore a variety of ways to create unique images and textures.
You’ll also learn how to transform your cyanotype prints into a wearable work of art by creating your own pair of cyanotype earrings and tote bag.
No previous experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity!
Mixing cyanotype chemistry and coating paper and fabric.
Creating botanical prints with fresh and pressed plants on a tote bag.
Experimenting with three-dimensional objects such as lace, string, and jewelry.
Making compositions with paper cutouts and photographic negatives.
Creating a pair of handmade cyanotype earrings to take home.
