Be An Author: Write & Illustrate Your Own Book (Oct 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov 4, 11)
Becoming an Author & Illustrator
Ages: 7-12
Wednesdays 5:15-6:15pm
Every great story begins with an idea.
In Be an Author, young storytellers will dream up original characters, create imaginative worlds, and write and illustrate their very own book from cover to cover. Along the way, they'll learn how authors and illustrators bring stories to life through words, pictures, and creativity.
Throughout the session, students will:
📖 Brainstorm and develop original story ideas
✏️ Write their own story with guidance and encouragement
🎨 Illustrate each page using a variety of art materials and techniques
📚 Design a cover and assemble their finished book
💡 Build confidence in creative writing, storytelling, and artistic expression
The adventure doesn't end when the last page is finished! We'll celebrate our young authors with a special Author Reading at 2 Alices Coffee Lounge, where students will share their stories with family and friends, sign books, and celebrate the incredible accomplishment of becoming published authors for the day.
Whether your child loves writing, drawing, or making up stories, this class is the perfect place to spark imagination, build confidence, and create a one-of-a-kind book they'll treasure for years to come.
ART CLASS SIZE LIMITED TO 10 STUDENTS
We will meet at the Cornwall Collective Studio in Cornwall, NY.

STUDIO POLICIES:
Payment must accompany registration to guarantee a seat in class.
If we need to cancel a class you will receive a full refund.
One week or more before a class or workshop begins, you may withdraw from a class and receive credit equal to the full value of the tuition. Credit is good for a future class, workshop, or educational program for the next 3 months (6 months for Spring class or workshop withdrawal).
Less than 7 days before a class or workshop begins, you may withdraw from a class and receive credit equal to half of the tuition. Credit is good for a future class, workshop, or educational program for the next 3 months (6 months for Spring class or workshop withdrawal).
Missed classes are non-refundable but can be transferable if you notify me in advance.
“no call, no show" is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Bio
Teaching art is at the heart of my practice! I am passionate about inspiring students of all ages to be curious, playful, and fearless in their creativity. Currently, I teach after-school programs at Cornwall-on-Hudson Elementary and Lee Road Elementary, and serve as a Freelance Educator at Storm King Art Center. I also lead workshops at Garrison Art Center and Woodstock School of Art, where I guide students through painting, printmaking, and mixed media explorations. My goal as a teacher is to create welcoming spaces where imagination thrives and students feel empowered to express their unique voice through art. In addition to teaching, I am represented by Carrie Haddad Gallery, where my own studio practice continues to inform and inspire my approach to education.
